A Toast

Yesterday I went through my most recent notebook. The pages were fully saturated with redundant poetry dedicated to my "darling" or "dearest"--you, of course. Line after line after line of exaggerated romanticism-- a fantastical rendition of whatever it is we had.
And as I read each stanza, my stomach churned with nausea at this sickening injustice. You must have had me under some kind of spell that caused me to surrender myself so openly to your opulent façade.
Today, I made a decision to break that awful spel

This is very exciting.
At the Senior Awards Ceremony the other night, I was given the Kristen Swanson Creative Writing Award, with a plaque, 50 bucks, and a $75 gift card to B&N. My Cr Wr apparently nominated me for it, and they read this review of my writing (all this stuff about subtlety and transforming the mundane... it was awesome).
